The First Time I Crossed the Bandra–Worli Sea Link with Friends

Driving across Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai
Crossing the Bandra-Worli Sea Link for the first time felt exciting and memorable

A memorable experience from my Mumbai trip was crossing the Bandra–Worli Sea Link for the first time with friends.

I had seen this iconic bridge many times in movies, photos, and travel videos, but experiencing it in person felt completely different.

The long stretch over the sea, the city skyline, and the evening drive made it even more special. That evening turned into a truly unforgettable moment from my Mumbai visit.

That drive across the sea link gave me another reason to explore more of Mumbai and its surroundings. If you're planning a trip to the region, check out these offbeat places near Mumbai to escape crowds.

Seeing the Sea Link from Bandra Fort

Before driving across the bridge, we spent some time near Bandra FortThe view from there looked beautiful, especially during the evening hours when the sunlight began to soften.

From the fort area, the Bandra–Worli Sea Link stretched across the sea with the city skyline visible in the distance. The combination of the bridge, the water, and the buildings created a scene that immediately caught our attention.

A cool breeze blew in from the Arabian Sea, making the weather feel pleasant and comfortable. The sound of the waves gently hitting the rocks added to the peaceful atmosphere around the fort.

Many visitors were sitting along the walls, taking photographs, chatting with friends, or simply enjoying the surroundings.

Some people seemed completely absorbed in watching the changing colors of the evening sky.

We also spent quite a bit of time there without noticing how quickly the hours were passing.

Seeing the bridge from a distance already filled us with excitement because we knew we would soon be driving across one of Mumbai’s most famous landmarks.

Starting the Drive Across the Bridge

Later in the evening, we got into the car and began our journey towards the sea link.

As we approached the entrance, the excitement slowly started building among everyone inside the vehicle.

I had seen photographs and videos of the bridge many times before, but experiencing it in person felt completely different. Even though it was simply a bridge crossing, it somehow felt like an important part of visiting Mumbai.

The lights from the surrounding roads and buildings made the entire area look lively and energetic.

As we neared the toll plaza, we could clearly see the bridge stretching ahead into the darkness.

The traffic was moving smoothly, which allowed us to enjoy the moment without any stress.

Once we entered the bridge, the surroundings suddenly felt much more open compared to the crowded city roads behind us.

The sea appeared on both sides, creating a feeling that we were traveling through the middle of the water.

At that moment, the drive felt less like a routine journey and more like a memorable experience.

The Mumbai Skyline Looked Amazing

Driving across the sea link at night felt completely different from traveling on ordinary city roads.

On one side, the dark waters of the sea stretched into the distance, while on the other side, Mumbai’s illuminated skyline created a stunning view.

The countless lights from buildings, apartments, and offices reflected softly against the night sky. The bridge itself looked impressive with its tall cable towers rising above the roadway.

The carefully placed lighting highlighted the structure and made it stand out beautifully against the darkness.

The smooth road surface made the drive comfortable and relaxing from start to finish. Cool air flowed through the car whenever the windows were slightly opened.

Everyone inside the car was busy talking, laughing, and pointing out different landmarks visible along the route. Every few moments, someone would notice another interesting view and call the attention of the rest of the group.

What began as a simple drive across a bridge eventually became one of those travel memories that remained vivid long after the journey was over.

A Different Feeling Compared to Regular Travel

Usually, while traveling in big cities, most of the time goes into dealing with traffic, crowds, and rushing between places. But this drive felt peaceful in a strange way.

For a few minutes, it felt less like city traffic and more like enjoying the journey itself.

Sometimes travel memories are not always about famous attractions. Small moments shared with friends often become more memorable.

One of My Favorite Mumbai Experiences

Crossing the Bandra–Worli Sea Link for the first time may seem like a simple experience, but for me, it became one of the highlights of my Mumbai trip.

The evening at Bandra Fort, the sea breeze, city lights, and the drive across the bridge together created a memory that still feels special when I think about Mumbai.

Some places leave an impression not because of how long you stay there, but because of how they make you feel in that moment. This was definitely one of those experiences for me.
